Education and development
Kennet Opera's first performances were given in local schools. Our raison d'etre is to "encourage enjoyment and participation" in concert song and opera, so we take education very seriously. For example…
- We have involved children in most productions since starting the company, encouraging them to become part of normal rehearsals and to be real members of the company.
- Our gala performance of "Captain Noah and his Floating Zoo" by Michael Flanders and Joseph Horowitz involved about 50 local children.
- In our 2009 production, Carmen, the children's choir was provided by Berkshire Maestros, the county young musicians' trust.
If your child is interested in theatre, and would like to take part in a production, please contact us.
